A step-by-step guide to creating your school account and adding students
What is Typing.com?
Typing.com is a free online typing programme that teaches students to type properly using all ten fingers — the correct way, not the two-finger hunt-and-peck method. It is used alongside MobyMax as part of the daily learning routine.
How lessons progress: Students start at the very beginning — home row keys, then upper row, lower row, numbers, and punctuation. Each lesson builds on the previous one. Students cannot skip ahead until they complete the current lesson. Speed and accuracy are tracked and improve over time.
Why it matters: Students who type fluently complete MobyMax work significantly faster. Strong typing skills are also an essential life skill for the modern world. We recommend 20–30 minutes of typing practice before each MobyMax session, following the timetable guidelines.

💡 Why Grade 4 — and why it doesn't really matter: The curriculum level you select does not change what typing lessons your students receive. Typing.com teaches the same keyboard skills regardless of grade — all students start at the beginning and progress at their own pace. Grade 4 is simply a neutral middle-ground selection. Do not spend time trying to match it to your students' actual school grades.
Add each student manually using their MobyMax login details — this makes it easy for students to remember
✓ Why this approach works: Using the student's MobyMax username and adding a "t" to the password means students only need to remember one set of login details for both platforms. Simple and effective.
If the username is already taken: Try adding the t to the username instead — e.g. mary123t as the username and mary123 as the password. Most of the time the original MobyMax details are accepted without any change.
📋 Tip: Repeat this process for each student. It only takes a minute per student once you get into a rhythm. Keep a note of each student's username and password in case they forget.
